‘I felt like I was at home’

BTS Star Jin opened up about his experience performing on stage for the first time after being discharged from the military last month.

In videos and photos shared by media outlets last month, Jin was accompanied by his fellow BTS members outside the military barracks. BTS member RM played a shortened version of the group’s hit song “Dynamite” on the saxophone, while his bandmates hugged and Jin waved at the cameras.

Regarding his experience in the military and his first performance afterward, Jin told Weverse magazine, “When you’re in the military, there are a lot of restrictions and nothing you own is yours, so it’s not always easy.

“But when I got on stage, I had my fans in front of me, I had my own microphone and earbuds, and everything felt just like I remembered it. I felt like I was home.”

Explaining that he felt “nervous excitement,” Jin said, “Fans may not want to hear this, but I tried really hard not to let that feeling seep in. I mean, it was the day after I was discharged from the military. I didn’t have much time to practice, and it had been a long time since I last sang.”

Jin also admitted that he thought, “If I start singing and get too excited and emotional, I might cry.”

“I had to put on a good show for my fans, so I couldn’t let myself get so choked up that I couldn’t sing,” Jin said. Now, he’s “working hard” on a new album.

“Fortunately, the guys all finished making their own albums before they enlisted, and now Jimin’s is coming out. That made me think that I shouldn’t wait too long to release mine after his, so I’m working on finishing it quickly,” he said.

In January, during his first year of service, Jin began making plans for his return. He shared a pre-recorded video with his fans as he celebrated the New Year, saying, “I’m leaving this video so you can watch my beautiful, handsome face and spend January and February warmly. I miss you all. I miss you so much,” he added. “Just wait a little longer and you’ll be able to see me with short hair. I’ll grow my hair out quickly this year and I’ll be able to start working hard soon.”

He will also be a torch bearer at the Paris Olympics.

BTS They announced that they will take a break in 2022 so that all seven members can complete their military service requirements. Group expected regroup In 2025.
