Galaxy Z Fold 6 Officially Launched With Minor Spec Upgrades, Higher Starting Price, and More Annual Software Updates

Samsung has updated its foldable phone lineup with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6, but when you look at their specs, you’ll notice that the latest phones aren’t all that different from the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. However, if you’re looking to pick up either of them, they’ll cost you a bit more than you’re used to paying for the past few generations, so let’s take a look at all the details.

Samsung has used higher quality materials for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and additional software updates are aimed at ensuring that the user can use the device for as long as possible.

Like the Galaxy Z Flip 6, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and will receive annual software updates for seven years. Samsung has gone the extra mile to make its foldable flagship a bit lighter and more durable than past versions, and the Korean giant has implemented an upgraded hinge design. The flexible interior glass will now hold up better under long-term use, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will also receive an IP48 rating. This means the device is not dust-resistant, and BorderThe number ‘4’ indicates resistance to foreign objects of 1 mm and larger.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6’s cover display now measures 6.2 inches, which is a reduction compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s 6.3-inch panel. The resolution is a reasonable 2,376 x 968 pixels, and the inner display measures 7.6 inches. Samsung has cut corners on the camera configuration, as it’s reusing almost the same hardware from last year. The primary 50MP sensor and a 10MP 3x telephoto unit return. Thankfully, a slightly improved 12MP ultrawide shooter are part of the setup, and Samsung claims that this performs better in low-light conditions.

As for the price, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers 512GB of non-expandable internal storage for $1,899. Samsung has bumped the price of this model up by $100 after several generations, which may not be good for potential buyers who are only getting an iterative update as a whole package and absolutely nothing for free. Both this flagship and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be available for purchase on July 24, but if you can get a decent discount on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, we recommend considering those purchases instead.
