PSP: 13 explosive devices seized during I-80 traffic stop

TOBYHANNA TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Following a traffic stop, a driver was arrested and 13 homemade explosives were seized, state police said.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on July 5, officers stopped a vehicle on Interstate 80 East in Tobyhanna Township for traffic violations.


Police said the driver was suspected of being under the influence of drugs and a search warrant was issued. During the search, officers found and seized 13 homemade explosive devices inside the suspect’s vehicle.

Called to the scene, State Police Dangerous Goods and Explosives Branch teams took the devices for examination.

The 46-year-old driver from Florida was charged and taken to the Monroe County Jail.
