WWBX Reaches New Heights; WPOW Takes a Leap Forward – RadioInsight

Nielsen Audio has released Day 2 of its monthly four-day ratings sweep in PPM markets.

Today’s releases include Washington DC, Boston, Miami, Seattle, Phoenix, Detroit, Minneapolis, Tampa/St. Petersburg, San Diego, Denver, Baltimore and St. Louis.

Washington DC

Public News/Talk 88.5 WAMU rises from 10.7 to 11.3 to maintain lead. Hubbard News 103.5 WTOP rises from 7.8 – 8.2 – 9.5. Howard University Adult R&B 96.3 WHUR rises from 7.4 to 7.6. Audacy Classic Hits “94.7 Driving“WIAD rose from ninth to fourth place 3.5 – 4.1 – 5.1, with Ratings Expert Chris Huff noting that this was the station’s largest share of Beautiful Music WJMD since the spring of 1978. Radio One Adult R&B “Magical 102.3/92.7” WMMJ/WDCJ dropped from 4.9 to 4.7.

iHeartMedia AC 97.1 WASH fell 5.7 – 5.5 – 4.4, its lowest share since March 2019. iHeart Classic Rock “Big 100“ WBIG-FM rose from 2.7 to 3.8 and CHR “Hot 99.5” WIHT increased from 2.7 to 3.2.

Cumulus Conservative Talk 105.9 WMAL 4.6 – 3.8 – 3.6 swings. Audacy Sports “106.7 Fan” WJFK-FM dropped 2.5 – 2.0 – 1.4, while sister Spanish CHR “Al Zol 107.9” WLZL slides 2.2 – 1.6 – 1.3.

Atlantic Gateway Communications Christian AC 91.9 WGTS swings 3.8 – 1.4 – 3.5.

Boston

Beasley Media’s “98.5 Sports Center“ WBZ-FM continues to lead, down 11.0 to 9.9. Audacy Hot AC “Mix 104.1“ Rising from 5.6 to 6.9, Huff notes, the largest share of the 104.1 frequency since 1990. Beasley Class Reaches 105.7 WROR Rising from 5.7 to 6.3. Audacy AC “Magic 106.7WMJX rose from 4.9 to 5.5. Public News/Talk 90.9 WBUR holds a 5.4 share.

iHeartMedia CHR “Kiss 108WXKS-FM is trending up 4.0 – 4.6 – 5.0. Beasley Media Country 102.5 WKLB is up 3.3 to 3.9.

iHeartMedia Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX down 5.6 – 3.8 – 3.7 after morning show change. Audacy Variety Hits “Big 103” WBGB is moving 3.8 – 3.4 – 3.0. Public News/Talk 89.7 WGBH-FM is trending down 4.3 – 3.8 – 3.1.

Miami/Fort Lauderdale

Cox Media Group Adult R&B “Hot 105“ WHQT dropped from 9.2 to 8.3. Audacy AC “101.5 Lite FM“ WLYF rises from 6.2 to 6.9. iHeartMedia Bilingual Soft AC “Magic 93.9WMIA-FM rose 5.0 to 5.6, which Huff said was the frequency’s biggest share since June 2009. Univision Spanish AC “Love 107.5” WAMR slides 6.8 – 6.4 – 5.4. Cox Soft AC “Easy 93.1WFEZ fell 6.3 to 5.2.

Following its move from CHR to Rhythmic Throwbacks over Memorial Day Weekend this month, Audacy’s “Power 96WPOW rose 1.9 to a 2.8 rating, which Huff said was the station’s best performance since February 2020.

Cox Hip Hop “99 JamWEDR rose from 3.1 to 3.7, while iHeart’s “103.5 Rhythm“ WMIB down from 3.6 to 3.1. iHeart CHR “Y100“WHYI rose 2.6 – 2.7 – 3.0.

iHeart News/Talk 610 WIOD up 1.3 – 1.4 – 1.9. Audacy’s “99.9 Kiss CountryWKIS-FM dropped from 3.9 to 2.9.

Seattle/Tacoma

iHeartMedia Classic Rock 102.5 KZOK dropped from 8.0 to 7.7 for the first time in 2024. Public News/Talk 94.9 KUOW-FM dropped from 7.3 to 6.6. Audacy Rock 99.9 KISW rose from 5.2 to 5.9. The two new formats rival Audacy Country, which has “100.7 WolfKKWF is down 7.5 – 6.2 – 5.3. Bonneville News/Talk 97.3 KIRO-FM is up 3.8 – 4.5 – 4.9.

Bonneville’s “Seattle Sports 710” KIRO increased from 3.3 to 3.9.

“Land of the Lotus”101.5 Hank FM“KPLZ has risen 1.8 – 2.1 – 2.5 percent since its April 1 launch. Hubbard said, “98.9 Taurus” KPNW-FM, which split from AAA a few hours ahead of KPLZ, saw its growth slow to 1.1 – 1.4 – 1.5 percent.

Hubbard Air Conditioning “Hot 106.9” KRWM slides between 4.8 – 3.9 – 3.4, while its sibling CHR “Movement 92.5“ KQMV down 4.5 – 4.0 – 3.7. iHeart CHR “Hits 106.1” KBKS only dropped from 4.2 to 4.1.

The Lotus Conservative Talk 570 KVI is trending upwards at 1.3 – 1.8 – 2.1, while Bonneville’s 770 KTTH is trending upwards at 1.4 – 1.5 – 2.0.

Phoenix

iHeartMedia AC “99.9 TIMES“ KESZ continues to lead 9.5 to 8.9. Hubbard Classic Rock 100.7 KSLX rebounds 7.1 – 5.9 – 7.4. iHeartMedia Variety Hits “95.5 Mountain“ KYOT rises from 5.7 to 6.6. Desert Valley Media Oldies “Wow Factor“ KOAI dropped from 4.9 to 4.6. Hubbard Rock 97.9 KUPD dropped from 4.6 to 4.3.

Audacy Country 107.9 KMLE rose 3.2 to 3.8. iHeart’s 102.5 KNIX rose 3.1 to 3.4.

Desert Valley Media Hot Air Conditioning “Hot 97.5/103.9” KMVA/KZON is up 1.8 – 2.3 – 2.7 percent. Ahead of the musical change, iHeartMedia’s “Mixture 96.9“ KMXP increased from 2.6 to 2.8. Audacy CHR “Live 101.5” KALV-FM dropped from 2.7 to 2.3, while iHeart “104.7 Kiss-FM” KZZP dropped from 2.5 to 2.0.

Detroit

iHeartMedia AC 100.3 WNIC leads Detroit 8.3 to 8.1. Audacy Sports “97.1 Ticket“ WXYT-FM drops 9.2 – 8.2 – 7.5, with streaming down 1.6 to 1.1. Audacy Country 99.5 WYCD rises 6.8 to 7.2. Beasley Classic Rock 94.7 WCSX rises 6.9 to 7.1. iHeartMedia CHR “Channel 95.5WKQI dropped from 7.2 to 6.3.

iHeart Adult R&B “Mixture 92.3WMXD is rising 5.5 to 6.0, while Hip Hop 97.9 WJLB is rising 2.7 – 3.3 – 3.5. iHeart’s Classic Rock 106.7 WLLZ is climbing 2.1 – 2.4 – 3.1.

Beasley Bible “Detroit Praise Network” WDMK-HD2 slides 1.3 – 0.7 – 0.5.

Minneapolis/St.Paul

Northwestern Media Christian AC 98.5 KTIS-FM continues to dominate the Twin Cities with an 8.7 – 11.0 – 11.4 run. Hubbard Hot AC “KS95” KSTP-FM rose to 8.0 from 6.8. iHeartMedia CHR 101.3 KDWB posted its best monthly gain since March 2019, rising from 5.9 to 6.7 through 2024. iHeart Sports “100.3 KFAN” KFXN-FM tied for third with 8.4 to 6.7, while sibling Classic Hits “Cool 108“KQQL dropped from 7.3 to 6.5.

Audacy Variety Hits “104.1 Jack FM” KZJK continues its Spring rally by increasing from 5.9 to 6.4.

Cumulus Rock “93X“KXXR fell 5.4 – 4.2 – 3.5.

Tampa/St.Petersburg

Cox Soft AC 105.5 WDUV rose 10.8 to 12.1 in what Ratings Expert Chris Huff called its biggest non-Holiday share since January 2016. iHeartMedia Country “USA 103.5“WFUS rose from seventh to second place 4.7-5.3-6.6. Beasley Country 99.5 WQYK rose 5.5-6.2. Cox Adult R&B “101.5 Vibration“ WTBV-FM up 4.6 – 5.6 – 5.8. iHeartMedia AC “Mixture 100.7WMTX fell 6.3 to 5.7.

Cox Classic Rock “107.3 Eagle” WXBL slides 6.6 – 6.1 – 5.6. Beasley Classic Hits “S105WRBQ fell 4.6 to 3.8.

Cox Hot Speech “102.5 BoneWHPT dropped from 5.3 to 3.6. iHeart Sports 620/95.3 WDAE dropped 2.3 – 2.2 – 1.6.

Radio Education Network Christian AC “Joy FM” 91.5 WCIE fell 4.0 to 3.2.

iHeartMedia CHR 93.3 WFLZ rose from 2.6 to 3.2. Beasley Rhythmic CHR “Wild 94.1” WLLD increased between 2.6 and 3.0.

San Diego

Public News/Talk 89.5 KPBS-FM takes the top spot in San Diego, rising from 6.6 to 7.4. Audacy Classic Hits “Sunny 98.1″ KXSN drops from 7.2 to 7.1. Local Media San Diego Rhythmic AC “Magic 92.5“ XHRM drops from 6.4 to 5.4. Audacy AC 96.5 KYXY rises from 4.3 – 4.6 – to 5.1. iHeartMedia Hot AC “Star 94.1” KMYI dropped from 5.3 to 5.0.

Audacy Country 103.7 KSON dropped from 5.7 to 4.9, while sister Sports “97.3 FanKWFN baseball season lifted from 4.3 to 4.6.

iHeart News/Talk 600 KOGO slid between 4.3 – 3.9 – 3.5.

Denver

Bonneville AC 101.1 KOSI rises from 6.4 to 7.3. iHeartMedia Classic Rock “103.5 Fox“ KRFX trends 5.7 – 6.1 – 7.0 up. KSE Media Classic Hits “Cool 105KXKL holds at 6.3 share. Bonneville Country 98.5 KYGO falls from 5.8 to 5.7. iHeartMedia AAA 97.3 KBCO continues to rise at 3.6 – 4.8 – 5.4 – 5.6.

Audacy Hot Air Conditioning “Alice 105.9” KALC increased by 4.0 – 4.6 – 5.1. KSE Media’s “Mix 100” KIMN dropped from 4.7 to 4.4. EMF Christian AC “Helmet” 91.1 KLDV 3.6 – 3.9 – 4.3 trend of increase.

iHeartMedia Alternative “Channel 93.3“KTCL drops from 5.9 to 5.0. Audacy Classic Country “103.1 Front Row Country” KQKS-HD2 1.1 – 1.5 – 1.7 rising.

iHeart CHR “Hit 95.7” KDHT swings between 3.4 – 2.8 – 3.4. Audacy Hip Hop “KS 107.5” KQKS does the same in reverse 2.3 – 2.8 – 2.2.

With the NBA and NHL playoffs over and the NFL’s summer lull over, Bonneville Sports “104.3 Fan” KKFN 3.4 – 2.8 – 1.8 and KSE Media’s “Height 92.5“KKSE-FM fell 3.4 to 1.1.

Baltimore

iHeartMedia Country 93.1 WPOC continues its rise 6.0 – 7.9 – 8.7. Radio One Adult R&B “Magic 95.9“WWIN-FM dropped 8.8 – 8.3 – 7.5 – 6.8 and tied for second place with sibling Hip Hop”92Q” While WERQ increased from 5.8 to 6.8.
