Downtown performance sets the stage for upcoming Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The sounds of jazz music echoed throughout the city of Springfield Wednesday evening as this weekend’s highly anticipated Jazz & Roots Festival kicked off.

Music could be heard at One Financial Plaza during the night’s celebration, featuring the jazz style of New Orleans musician Glen David Andrews. City and festival leaders also celebrated the milestone event that brings together thousands of music fans each year.

The three-day music, arts and community-building event will feature a variety of musical performances. Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival Executive Director and Co-Founder Kristin Neville shared with 22News what to expect at this year’s festivities.

“We’ve been working really hard and are excited to share some incredible music with you over the next few days. To share a celebration of community and diversity, arts and culture, and cultural revival.”

The festival shows will officially start this Friday at 17:30. Admission to the event is free for everyone.
