NFL star Chester Rogers hosts community event

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (WAFF) – Tre’ Day Weekend 2024 is returning to Huntsville.

Lee High School graduate and former NFL wide receiver Chester “Tre” Rogers will host the annual community event dedicated to supporting youth and athletic development. This year’s event will take place on July 12 and 13.

The three-day weekend features a variety of events designed to benefit and entertain the community, including the Youth Soccer Camp at Lee High School, where 100 youth ages 8-18 will learn the basics of soccer from experienced coordinators.

Tre’ Day Weekend will also feature a Celebrity Breakfast, offering the opportunity to meet, take photos and collect autographs with famous athletes.

The weekend concludes with the annual Family Field Day and 7-on-7 Celebrity Game.

The event, to be held at Milton Frank Stadium on Saturday, will feature games, food trucks, retailers, local bands competing and a 7-on-7 football match.

“Probably the most rewarding part of this is giving back to the community,” Rogers said. “This Tre’ Day weekend, I just want to emphasize that we’re partying for a cause. We’re trying to generate money for our community fund. It’s like an emergency fund for those in need, but we’re also trying to grow our literacy program. I want to be able to teach people how to use money and generate money instead of just constantly donating. We want to teach you how to do it on your own, so that’s really what this weekend is about.”
