Performance review of suspended Monument municipal manager postponed | Government

Following a board meeting that lasted until Tuesday night, the Monument Town Council is no closer to reaching a permanent decision after placing town manager Mike Foreman on paid administrative leave last month.

Foreman was placed on leave at a June 12 meeting following a management meeting to discuss “personnel matters” with the city manager, who has worked at Monument since 2019.

Mayor Mitch LaKind announced at that session that Foreman would be given time to prepare for his performance review. The town later released a statement on its website saying the move had “the best interests of our community in mind.”

The council decided after Tuesday’s meeting to postpone Foreman’s performance evaluation until July 31. He will remain on paid leave until then, and the town has not made public the nature of the evaluation.

Two people currently share the acting mayor role: Monument’s director of archivism and community partnerships, Madeline VanDenHoek, and Monument Police Chief Patrick Regan.

Foreman was fired from a town manager position in Craig for undisclosed reasons in 2018. He was also a former town manager in Celina, Texas.
