Concerns prompt changes to community centre rents

Concerns over use of Meredosia Community Center lead to changes in lease terms.

Village Trustee Eric Taylor told board members that some people renting the facility are using plates and other items belonging to Bread of Love, which uses the center to regularly provide meals to those in need.

Board member Ernie Gregory said he has spoken with the village attorney about rewriting the contracts to require a $50 non-refundable deposit. The contract would also state that tenants are not allowed to use dishes or other items they did not bring to the center with them.

Those who violate the use of the facilities or fail to clean up after use may be fined, Gregory said.

In other matters, board members met with Police Chief Rusty Richard about properties that need to be cleaned up and structures that need to be demolished and requisitioned.

The village is also seeking grants to clean and repair the water tower.
