Darryn Peterson talks recruiting; gives mixed reviews about Kentucky Basketball

Mark Pope and his team are now turning their focus to the class of 2025 to build a strong first high school class in Lexington.

While there are a number of top-tier prospects on the radar, one that has always seemed like a possible signing is Darryn Peterson.

The 5-star guard from Huntington Prep is now focusing on transfer efforts, with tackles from UK, Kansas and North Carolina. Ohio stateBaylor and Arkansas are expected to compete with the top five candidates.

He has already visited Lexington and in a recent interview Jamie Shaw from On3had many good things to say about the program and its facilities… He didn’t say much about the campus.

“The campus wasn’t that great, but the facilities and where the gym was were great. They had everything. I feel like I could go there and get better, and that’s the main thing. Even if Cal wasn’t there, Kentucky is still Kentucky. Coach (Mark) Pope is still a great coach,” he told Shaw.

With an upcoming official visit, let’s hope the new Kentucky team can change that narrative. Even if they can’t, hearing him give a solid review of the program and facilities certainly increases the Cats’ chances of landing the star guard.

Peterson is currently ranked No. 3 overall in this class by the 247 Sports Composite.
