Michael Kiwanuka releases new single ‘Floating Parade’

The track is Kiwanuka’s first new release in 3 years.

Singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka has released his new song, ‘Floating Parade’, which was first performed during his performance at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage last month.

On ‘Floating Parade’ Kiwanuka works with producers Danger Mouse and Inflo, with whom he has worked on his previous two albums.

Kiwanuka said in a statement that the song is “about using your senses to find an escape, whether it’s spiritual or physical, especially in oppressive circumstances.”

“The floating parade is the metaphorical act of removing yourself from an uncomfortable situation and seeking comfort elsewhere; it is guided almost entirely by the power of the mind.”

The North London-born artist received critical acclaim with her 2012 debut album. I’m home again, a record that earned him many award nominations.

His latest LP is out in 2019 KIVANUKAIt won the Mercury Prize and received a Grammy nomination for best rock album.

The single is the artist’s first release since 2021’s ‘Beautiful Life’, a standalone track written for a documentary by award-winning director Orlando von Einsiedel.
