Which Ohio State Buckeyes team was overlooked in the College Football 25 ratings?

The highly anticipated Top 100 rankings for the College Football 25 were released by EA Sports on Wednesday. The Ohio State Buckeyes had the most players of any school in the country with eight players in the Top 100. Georgia and Alabama were the closest, each with six players. As for the rest of the Big Ten, Michigan and Oregon both had five players on the list.

After seeing the Buckeyes sit atop the entire college football league with eight players rated 90 or above, it’s hard to question the creators of the video game, especially when this has been a long-awaited development and looks set to be one of the biggest video game releases in recent history.

There is a feeling that someone who should have an overall score of 90 might be ignored.

JT Tuimoloau is a veteran pass rusher for the Buckeyes. The duo he teams up with on opposite sides of the defensive line with Jack Sawyer is expected to wreak havoc in the backfield for the Buckeyes next season. The question is, “Why didn’t Tuimoloau crack the Top 100?”

When he shows his skills, it’s clear that he’s one of the most talented pass rushers in the game. Tuimoloau has the potential to be dominant and is projected to be a high draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

There are two reasons I can think of why EA Sports doesn’t rate Tuimoloau as a 90 overall. One is that there may be concerns about his consistency. In real life, he has his bright spots and can fade away at times. Without seeing him dominate nearly every rep, perhaps some categories like strength and awareness have suffered a bit. Even the slightest drop could push that 90 into an 89.

Another possible justification could be that EA Sports felt it was completely unfair for three defenders on the same team to have an overall rating of 90 or higher. With Jack Sawyer being 29th overall at 92 and Tyleik Williams being 54th overall at 91, they could have deliberately avoided putting Tuimoloau at 90 or higher.

It makes sense that super-young talents who haven’t proven themselves at the college level wouldn’t be rated this high. That includes young superstar wide receivers like Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss. It also makes sense that a player who changes positions wouldn’t be rated this high. That’s with Sonny Styles switching from safety to linebacker.

If there is one player that should be questioned based on what has been released so far, it is Tuimoloau. Despite missing the top 100, I would expect his overall rating to fall somewhere between 86 and 89.
